Hey, I’m Kaitlin and I’m the blogger behind FrugallyPetite.com. I was originally inspired to start Frugally Petite with my own struggle trying to find chic and stylish clothing for work that fit and was flattering. Feeling confident at work standing at a whopping five feet without feeling like a child is not easy. When I first started this job, I had about three frumpy looking outfits that I could wear to work. It wasn’t easy, but after some time I was able to build a wardrobe that was flattering and stylish. I started Frugally Petite because I wanted to help my vertically challenged ladies achieve the same.

I graduated from Stockton University with a BA in Forensic Psychology. What do I plan on doing with a degree in that field, you may ask? Not a clue! Learning about serial killers always fascinated me (I know. I’m weird). I always found them interesting and wanted to learn more about them. During my studies, I started wondering about the victims and victim-survivors. We learned so much about the murderers, but what about the victims? I began doing some research about how the victims are helped through this process and discovered what a victim advocate is. After my newfound interest in how I can help victims of crime, I landed an internship doing weekly sex offender group treatment therapy. I wanted to learn about the offenders and why is it they do what they do. After I graduated, a couple of months passed, and I was not having any luck finding a job. So, I started working at Target. After about three months, my uncle told me that he knows a detective who told him there’s a clerical opening in the victim-witness unit at a Prosecutor’s Office. The following week, I walked in with my resume and asked to speak with the chief of administration. She came down to speak with me, answered questions I had, and let me know that they have interviews coming up and that she would give me a call. A week later, I received a call for my interview. I had an interview with the assistant chief of administration and the director of the victim-witness unit. After about a three-month hiring process and background check, I was hired and was starting my new job in two weeks.

So, now I am clerical in the Victim-Witness Unit at a Prosecutor’s Office. I am working side-by-side with Victim-Witness Advocates. I absolutely love my job and adore my co-workers. I could not be happier with my first (big girl) job. So now, the question is, do I want to become a Victim-Witness Advocate after working so closely with them? Honestly, I don’t know yet. If I had the opportunity, I would take it. But I’m still not sure about what it is I want to do. I have thought about getting my paralegal certification; a master’s in counseling, a master’s in forensic psychology, etc. I’m still only 24 years old with plenty of time to figure that out! As of now, I’m happy in the position I am, while also still working part-time at Target (Gotta get that employee discount) and blogging as my hobby.

Update: The year 2020 finally ended and I thought it would be a good idea to update how my life is going. After about a year of working in my office, I got promoted to a Victim Advocate position! Im so happy to be given such a rewarding posititon and to be able to work along side some amazing people.

Some even more exciting news is that I also got enagaged this in September 2020! Brandon and I booked our venue for October of 2022 and we could not be more excited!
